I was watching Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou today, which is a hilarious show that everyone really needs to check out, and at one point they started talking about how they’d like to see a show about magical high school boys. It was then that I realized that I didn’t watch this week’s episode of Binan Koukou Chikyuu Bouei-bu Love!
Weird. Perhaps I got hooked on Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou and Nichijou that I forgot about this. Time to fix that!
At Yufuin’s suggestion to go to the beach, the Earth Defense Club decided to head over there for a ‘training’ camp. Unfortunately for them, they went to a special kind of beach where only men show up. Atsushi was looking for a family beach, but since he wasn’t sure where it was this lovely gentleman in the picture above took it upon himself to help his fellow man get to his destination. It’s through him that our Love Making Heroes were able to find a beach that was right up this show’s alley. (i.e. a beach with no girls)
The student council crew are out on a beach trip as well and it’s funny how different the experience is. Not only do they have an entire beach to themselves, but the place that they’re staying in is stacked! The room is huge, they each have their own sleeping quarters, and the place is gorgeous. The others have an inn that looks like Garo’s place. Even the baths are the exact same.
Plus, after the beach debacle and Io’s used brush incident, the guys are getting overly conscious of each other.
But more importantly! Tawarayama sensei is alive! He keeps getting attacked though by some random traps that comes out of nowhere. In the end, he’s mistaken for a monster and is hit by a Love Attack. Poor guy just can’t catch a break.
He dies again with only Wombat realizing what actually happened and the trip soon comes to an end. The mystery of Io’s toothbrush is also brought to light.
Overall the episode was kind of awkward to watch, mainly because I’m not use to seeing fan service of this nature. But I suppose it’s a welcomed balance considering how last week was filled with boobs and butts hanging everywhere.
I also loved that the show mentioned that Ryuu talks about being a player and loving girls, but we’ve never actually seen him with them. Then again, I don’t think this show has any female characters. There was one who showed up and I actually said, “Ahhh! A female character!” But it was just an okama.
There’s a lot of shounen-ai vibes with this episode. Not only do they go to a gay beach, but someone used Io’s toothbrush on purpose, which is akin to an indirect kiss. All of them accuse the other of having impure thoughts, which only makes their experience at the beach even more weird.
To top that off, we see the guys go on a courage test where they get even closer to one another. Even though each guy isn’t into that, it was funny to see the sort of situations they get themselves into. Even the Student Council isn’t free from this. Seeing them not only introduces established ships, but makes certain relationships become a love triangle as well.
The next episode looks good. Atsushi and Yufuin get into a fight, which seems to please the student council president. I don’t like them fighting, but drama is needed for every relationship, eh?
