In preparation for this episode, I decided to make a cupcake…only I kind of forgot to add the liquid component of the recipe. It’s been awhile since I’ve made cakes/muffins, so this is to be expected. I was planning on using some ripe bananas and make chocolate chip banana muffins, only I couldn’t find them. I also forgot to add milk, so when I took them out of the oven they looked like this.
I added some nutella on top, because I don’t think I added enough sugar and it helps add a bit more moisture. Plus, it’s nutella. Nuff said! As you can see, it looks like a cookie on top with the cake on the bottom. You can actually remove the cookie portion and it tastes like a cookie, just a bit crunchier than I normally like it to be.
Even though knowledge of this cupcake cookie combo is an interesting development in the world of MochiRochi’s kitchen tales, it’s still a fail on my end since I only wanted a cupcake.
Hmmm, this might be fun thing to do as a weekly feature for this anime. Food porn from the show and from my oven. I don’t know if I have enough recipes for the show, but we’ll see.
Food Porn of the week: Tea!
Okay, it’s not much this week. But at least we got something edible. For a food reverse harem, there’s been a serious lack of actual pastries these past few weeks. Even though I don’t like tea, I’m going to take it.
Recap & Thoughts:
Ryou was waiting for Sayuri, but didn’t want her to think that he was waiting for her. It’s cute. When he hears the door open, he acts like he was sleeping. But his grin is soon wiped away once the mean girl from his school shows up instead of his beloved Sayuri.
His good mood completely changes and it looks like it’s going to get worse once she tells him that she saw Sayuri with Gilbert-sensei. She doesn’t mention it quite yet, but does say that it looks like Sayuri is too busy to come in today. I hope this doesn’t make him turn into a jerk. Ryou is cute when he’s like this and it’s not his fault that he’ll forever be interrupted when it comes to Sayuri.
Meanwhile, Sayuri is having tea with Gilbert sensei and his grandmother. It looks like he got into the school through connections, since his grandmother knows the head teacher. Those two go way back. Like forty years back. They continue talking till about dinner time. Will Sayuri make it in time to see Ryou?
At the hospital, the mean girl tells Ryou that she saw Sayuri with Gilbert-sensei. He doesn’t believe it though, so she decides to play a game with him. It doesn’t really look like a fun one though. All they have to do is wait to see if Sayuri shows up before visiting hours is over. Since Ryou is confident that she will, since she didn’t go anywhere else, he turns off his phone just as Sayuri is calling him.
Even though it wasn’t really a fun waiting game, the mean girl ended up winning since Sayuri never shows up. Ryou is left alone in the hospital room and looks pretty dejected. Again, I really hope he doesn’t go the jerk route and starts being mean to Sayuri because other things happened. He should be able to listen to her side of the story before coming to any conclusions.
Somehow, I don’t really see that happening. He’ll go back to being cold and distant to her, but it’s only through their time cooking when he’ll start to warm up again. I’m still hoping that the show surprises me and he takes the time to actually listen to her. I like Ryou and his series of unfortunate interruptions, so I really, really, really don’t want to see him become a jerk because of this.
Unless…unless him being a jerk = more time in the kitchen. If that’s what happens then I think I’ll be okay with it. Bring back the food Bonjour Sweet Love Patisserie! I need more food porn in my life!
